What is self harm ?

Self harm takes many forms:-

  • Burning yourself

  • Scratching or picking the skin

  • And hitting yourself against or with objects

  • Taking much medication or drugs

  • Swallowing objects or dangerous fluids

  • Inserting objects inside the body

  • Staying in abusive relationships

  • Eating difficulties

  • Drinking too much alcohol or smoking excessively

  • Or simply not taking good care of your emotional or physical needs
